Is there an easy way to put video style controls to an animation?

I'm currently building an Edge animation for a website for use in a pop-up panel that displays when you pass your mouse over it.

The questions I have are:

• Can you set the animation to only play once the panel is visible, not when the page is loaded?

• Is it possible to put play/stop/rewind controls within the animation, much like any video?
