Controlling animated elements in a custom mask?

Hey there guys,

I'm doing a chemistry animation and need a custom mask similiar to below:

where a student presses down on one of the arrow buttons and this animates the numbers upwards until they let go of the button.

Is there an easy way to do this in Edge?

And how would I go about controlling the numbers upward movement with the pressing of a button?
