Symbol Animation won't play on action

I am new to Edge Animate, so forgive me if this is an easy solution. 

I have created an animation and put the elements into a symbol, however, when I create a mouse function (mouse in) to activate the symbol nothing happens.

I have tried the getsymbol function first with a play on mouse in command, but the animation will not activate.

Please help
