how to centre down state image and fix back ground to a plain colour

hi please view this website with internet explorer , windows XP. viewers see a down state image that I set but its not centred and also sits over the navigation. I had screen cover on the background image, so this does not look correct either in non html5 compliant browsers.

I would like to specify in the down state that there is just a plain colour background rather than an ill fitting image.

hoping someone from the adobe team can answer my question, or any edge user who knows!
