If I convert a text layer to a symbol, Once i go inside the symbol I cant see the text anymore?

So I have a text layer. I converted it to a symbol. but once i go inside the symbol to animate it. I can right click on the text layer and edit the text but on the actual stage there is NO text. I cant see it anymore?
