specify timeline easing from within an action

Hi.

i would like to specify my timeline easing within the action of a button rather than the easing panel. Is it possible to do this with Edge Animate? i've tried a few jQuery snippets but none have worked.

Anyone have any ideas? Here's a piece of pseudo code of what i'd like to achieve.

sym.play().animate("easeIn");
