Move symbol's horizontal position to button location when button is clicked

I am new to Edge and coding.  I have a timeline in my project with 23 dates.  I would like to have a highlight rectangle to move to the date that the user clicks on.  I figure the best way is to have it move to the postion of the button when clicked. I do not know where to start to get this to work.
