Edge Animate 2014.1 not backwards compatible to 2014.0 documents

This is a request to Adobe:

 

Minor version revisions should not cause project incompatibilities in .an project files!

 

The update to 2014.1 Edge Animate (October 2014) causes trouble in lab settings. My students using 2014.1 on their personal machines cannot open their work on 2014.0. All of our lab computers have 2014.0 installed. I can understand major revision incompatibilities, but minor revisions should be bug fixes and simple updates and should not affect projects created *yesterday*.

 

This is endlessly frustrating, because we have to call upon our staff tech support any time a minor bug fix is put into place with CC.

 

In terms of addressing this issue, how might someone go about updating a .an project file to be backwards-compatible? In Edge Animate, no option exists to save backwards.

BUG - Edge animate 2014.1 (October) can't open old files (from 2014 version)

In this new version I can’t open old files anymore…
When I open file that created in previous version 92014, for example) new Edge - 2014.1 -  want to upgrade the file, but then I receive “an error occurred while upgrading file”…

And there is no way to download old version and to change old files if i need some changes in text, for example...

Edge crashes when i try to add a symbol

Hi everybody,

 

I'm trying to get a symbol created in fireworks (png sequence) into edge animate. When i click on the + button, for adding a symbol, the program just shuts down.. I tried to uninstall, restart and re-install.. nothing seems to work.

 

I'm using edge animate cc 2014.1 on a mac (max os x 10.9.5).

 

Hoping that somebody can help me.

Infinte loop animation on a page with a 'stop' action

I am building an app where each 'page' has a point (marked as a label) where the visibility of the page turns on.

Each page has a 'stop' action so that the whole timeline doesn't just play, therefore simply going through all the pages without the users say so.

 

Now, on the first page, I want an animation to loop infinitely. With the stop action in place, is this possible?

Animating road to a curved road, leaving the already animated road visible (correct, esp at the road turn)

I want to animate several roads, coming up from bottom of screen then fill a motion path and then end with an arrow head.  I want a few going to the left at different degrees, and to the right as well one that goes straight...with the roads overlapping somewhat at the base, but spread out as the animation completes.

 

The issue I am running into is at the point the road (created in illustrator), the entire image of road rotates, and I am not able to anchor the image at the bottom, then fill the motion path with new road to complete the animation.  Can someone advise as to the best method of going about creating an animated road, and how to incorporate curves while maintaining the already loaded road on the screen?  I really appreciate it.

Scroll Effects to OAM file

Hello everyone!

I am trying to add Scroll Effects to OAM file (in Muse project).

I did this:

Export the OAM file from Adobe Animate.

Launch Muse and double-click a page to open it in Design view. Ensure that the page is long enough to scroll by updating the minimum height settings in the Page Properties dialog box.

Choose File > Place and browse to select the OAM file from the site folder.

Open the Scroll Effects panel. Click the Adobe Edge Animate tab (fourth tab from the left) to review the settings for this section.

While the OAM file is selected, enable the Edge Animate checkbox.

Choose Autoplay 700px

Preview page in browser and my OAM animation starts playing immediately. What is wrong? I want animation to star playing after user scroll down (700px for example), but now as soon as I load the page my animation starts playing!

My Adobe Animate file has simple structure. Autoplay set to "yes". I have a stage and one element with animation (movement from one point to another in 2 seconds).

getSymbolTypeName() is not working after the update??

i just updated into the latest version of Edge. i was debugging when i found out that getSymbolTypeName() is not working anymore. any solution to this?

Adobe edge software wont open in windows 8

Edge Animate upon opening indicates that it has failed to obtain port and must exit. Can somebody please help me identify where the problem might be. So far I have disabled windows firewalls, have uninstalled security protection program, and have asked for HP Pavillion Support but to no avail. We cant come up with a solution to troubleshoot the program. The Adobe contact response team havent been able to solve the problem either and are asking me to get a technician to fix it up but they cant even locate where the problem is coming from. The app has been installed and reinstalled at least three times. Is there a problem with the activation of this app on a Windows 8 platform? How else can I get this app to function?

How to add css styling to Edge Animate elements?

I have done a complete search on this, and have tried based on the example here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/979124?promoid=KBHBD

 

But I can't seem to get it to work...

 

I am trying to justify text created in Edge (in which I named the div "bio" in the properties panel) using this method in document.compositionReady -   $("#bio").css("text-align","justify");

 

But it won't work.. I can't find many examples of using css to style divs in Edge so can someone help me?

 

ALSO - to help others who may have the same question, would you also be able to explain to noobs what the generic proper method is?

Sound in Edge Animation not playing in iPad

Hi everyone,

 

I'm developing a very simple animation in Edge for a Christmas Card (http://www.luiscovas.com/MTS/ecard_MTS_som.html) which works perfectly in desktop browsers. Unfortunatly, when I try it in iPad (either with Safari or Chrome) the sound doesn't play (the animation does, but not the sound).

 

I used buzz.js, following this tutorial - http://www.edgedocks.com/content/edge-animate-adding-sound-effects

 

Does anyone nows why the sound doesn't play in iPad? I don't know if this issue only happens with IOS or if it also happens with Android...

 

I have to deliver this proposal by tomorrow and I'm kind of desperate!

Import Edge Animate into Wordpress manually?

Can anyone point the right way to import an EA composition into Wordpress manually?  Most articles point to the Edge Suite plugin or are oudated.

 

I need to do it manually. Also, since the last update EA is no longer generating the edgePreload.js, which most articles mention.

Edge appends sufffix "_upgraded" to folders

When I open a version 4.0.1 file with Edge 5.0 it automatically upgrades the file but it duplicates the project folder and appends the suffix "_upgraded" to it.

 

I need the folders to remain named exactly as they are without having to go back and change them.

 

Is this a setting I can fix somewhere or a bug in the new version?

I need help with a link in a slide show within a website.

The problem is that the link does not take you to another page in the website.  When I write "_self" in place of blank, the page opens within the edge animate file itself.  So I changed it to _blank and it opens another page completely - which is not what I want.  I want it to open within the website - but not in the edge animate file.  Would I put "_parent"?  Or what?

 

Below is the current code:

Edge update problems: to download previous version...

Hi

For those people who are having problems with the update to Edge Animate CC 2014.1 and have deadlines to meet (and I count myself among them!), earlier versions are still available from Adobe, so its possible to revert to your preferred version.

 

Go to HTML animation | Download free Adobe Edge Animate CC trial and underneath where it says "In This Version" select the version you want from the pull-down menu. Then hit the big Download button to get it. We should thank Adobe for that!

 

If Adobe sees the number of downloads of the earlier version, it will also be a useful metric of dissatisfied customers. Unfortunately, this should have been clearly labelled as more than a point update, then we'd have some warning that there could be a problem with files created in earlier versions. I'm sure this is a fine piece of software if you're starting from a blank sheet, but its been a bit of a hindrance for those of us with older projects to work on.

How to disable/enable other buttons when one is active?

Hi community!

 

I have numerous symbols which animate in when clicked and out when clicked again one at a time. Thx again to vivekuma who helped me materialize this.

 

But then i realized i also need to disable the other symbols when one is active and re-enable them when it animates back out like in the sample. I won't hold it against anyone for laughing, but I was trying to combine this bind/unbind with this current var method but it's mostly blind shot after blind shot

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

JavaScript easing not working

Hello,

 

I made my website a few months back and all was good, but I've come back to update some bits and lots of things just don't work anymore.

 

I have a button that makes a container slide in from below and this is a snippet of the code I used:

 

 

if (sym.getComposition().getStage().getPosition() == 1000 )  {


     $("#Stage_Overlay01").animate({ top:'5px'}, 750, 'easeOutQuint' );

 

}

 

 

Now for some reason the button just doesn't work anymore, no container slides in when clicked. If I remove 'easeOutQuint' the button works again but obviously without easing. I cant find anything on the forums on this problem, what has changed from before? What am I doing wrong?

New Update (2014.1) - How to have multiple compositions on same page?

With the latest update, it seems as though Edge now always assumes that the composition has an element ID of "Stage". Previously, I was able to have multiple compositions on the same HTML page by simply altering the default id of "Stage" for each composition to something unique. Any workarounds for having multiple compositions on the same page utilizing the 2014.1 update?

Published html not working

I recently made a interactive map all worked fine have now upgarde the application and when i publish the the files they will no run when opened in the browser - the file created when i save will work when doppped on the browser - so why wont the published elements work - any ideas....
