How to call symbol action that is outside of a button?

How to call symbol action that is outside of a button?

ie:

I have a main symbol01 on the timeline with a buttton inside symbol01. When I click on the button I want the symbol02 on the timeline to move to the left while the button continues to play something in symbol01:

I used this on the main timeline first and this worked: sym.getSymbol("symbol01").play("stage3");

But I now need the "close"button inside symbol01to tell sym.getsymbol("Stagesymbol02").playreverse(stage3);

I hope this makes sense. Possibly think of a subfolder trying to get to the root folder.
